Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), formerly Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (AHVLA), is an Executive Agency of the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA). APHA is one of the largest research establishments of its kind in the world and is internationally recognized as a centre of scientific excellence. The Agency has a rich scientific history dating back over 100 years and has contributed to many of the milestone in the veterinary landscape over the last century. It is an International Reference Laboratory for OIE, FAO, EU for many important diseases, examples of that include: o APHA is OIE Reference Lab for Avian Influenza, Brucellosis, NDV, Equine Viral Arteritis, Contagious Equine Metritis…etc o APHA is FAO Reference Lab for Avian Influenza, Brucellosis, and Poultry Diseases o APHA is EU Reference Lab for Avian Influenza…etc. To enhance its scientific activity APHA has, in recent years, developed commercial products and services and made them available to scientists around the world. These services have now been brought together under APHA Scientific. From AHVLA we are providing a wide range of high quality veterinary diagnostic kits and reagents plus Proficiency Testing Services (PTS), this service will enable any professional veterinary lab to maintain and have an evidence of their quality standards that can be presented to an appropriate accreditation body. Featured products: CapriLAT: A latex agglutination test for the rapid detection of antibodies against Mycoplasma capricolum subspecies capripneumoniae (Mccp), the causative agent of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP). BoviLAT: A latex agglutination test for the rapid detection of antibodies against Mycoplasma mycoides subspecies mycoides small colony variant (MmmSC), the causative agent of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP).
